In the afternoon of October 12th, 2018, LSTS invited Professor Wei-Hsin Sun- an astronomer and director of Taiwan National Museum of Natural Science-to come to share with the students in the workshop “Fun Physics and science games”.
Professor Wei-Hsin Sun graduated from the Physics Department of National Taiwan University in 1979, and received his PhD from Astronomy Institute of UCLA in 1987. Before becoming General Director of Taiwan National Museum of Natural Science (ranked 18 among 20 most famous museums in the world), he used to work for NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and teach in many universities in Taiwan. He has achieved many honourable awards for years and is considered as a master of teaching scientific knowledge by vivid visual method.
In the workshop, Professor Wei-Hsin Sun shared interesting knowledge about astrophysics and phenomena of non-gravity with teachers and students in LSTS. Prof. used simple materials to explain the physical phenomena such as: atmospheric pressure, acoustic resonance, light absorption and light radiation…The vivid visual method helped students observed the phenomena easily and inspire them to explore science. It was also an opportunity for all teachers in LSTS to learn teaching experiences in creating such interesting lessons.
