Lawrence S. Ting School is a non-profit school founded in 2008 by Phu My Hung Development Corporation.

The School was named after the late President of CT&D  Group and Phu My Hung Development Corporation – Mr. Lawrence S. Ting (whose Vietnamese name is Dinh Thien Ly). Mr. Ting was awarded the Vietnam Friendship Medal from State President Nguyen Minh Triet on December 28th, 2007.

In 1989, Mr. Lawrence S. Ting came to Vietnam and started his rough yet meaningful journey. As a visionary with extraordinary will and courage, he decided to invest in a poor and neglected area of land. He led a team who devoted themselves to making a great change. After a twenty-year-long effort, the impossible became the possible when the formerly poor and neglected area was transformed into an industrial zone and a modern and populous residential area as seen today.

Mr. Lawrence S. Ting was integral in implementing four outstanding projects highly appreciated by Vietnamese Government: 1) The Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, 2) The Hiep Phuoc Power Plant, 3) The Saigon South New Urban Area and 4)  A tree planting campaign preserving  over 60 thousand hectares of land in Kien Giang Province.

Mr. Lawrence S. Ting is a foreign businessman who invested in Vietnam; however, what he has done for Vietnam is impressive and worth of gratitude. During his lifetime, he showed great interest in strengthening Vietnam’s education system and believed that “The elite are an invaluable treasure of a country; therefore, educating the elite brings prosperity to all.”

When he passed away, his family and Phu My Hung Development Corporation established Lawrence S. Ting Memorial Fund for the purpose of sharing something with the poor and disadvantaged people; actively contributing to the changes in Vietnam’s education for the stage of integration and development.

In 2006, Phu My Hung Development Corporation decided on the implementation of a non-profit school project named after Mr. Lawrence S. Ting – Lawrence S. Ting School - to express his love for Vietnam and his care for the Vietnamese young generations.
